Advanté ‘produced’ THREE female Managing Directors

In Construction!

With Women In Construction Week and National Careers Week, Mandy Messenger, our MD looks back over our 25-year Oasis anniversary.

Step forward Ruth Israel and Kealey Stelmach

Both ladies started their very early careers at Advanté and what amazing careers they’ve achieved!

Ruth started in our client support team liaising between sites and toilet service suppliers to make sure weekly servicing on our welfare units took place like clockwork.

After a while, Ruth’s efficiency and fantastic care for her customers didn’t go unnoticed to one of our toilet service suppliers and Ruth made the next step in her career working for our supplier.

Ruth’s hard work and dedication were rewarded with further promotions and not only is Ruth currently the Managing Director of Simply Hire Ltd, she is now also the proud owner of the company!

Kealey started with us in a YTS role, and moved from admin roles to sales and project management.

In both her sales and project management roles, Kealey’s customer focus and organisational management talents also caught the eye of another one of our suppliers, Newspace Containers.

And yes, you probably guessed it, Kealey also ended up leading the Newspace team as their MD. What you may not have guessed is that Kealey also ended up owning the business, before she sold it a few years ago.

Mandy said: “WOW, just wow – what else can I say!”

I really hope Kealey and Ruth’s inspiring stories will encourage young people starting out in their careers to consider the construction industry and will make them realise that anything is possible and there’s no harm in dreaming big.

I for one, am very proud of Ruth and Kealey’s amazing achievements and glad we were a small part of their stories.

Obviously, I did speak to Kealey and Ruth to get their permission to highlight their success and click this link to see what they had to say.

Kealey said: While working for Advante I had some great experiences.  I managed to work my way up the ladder and gained plenty of knowledge and skills.  This helped me further my career in becoming an MD for a nationwide manufacture.  I made some great friendships on my journey and can say that I’m still very close with those people today.

Ruth said: My role on the Service Desk at Advanté taught me so many skills that I have used throughout my working career, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without that experience, it was my first ever full-time role. From how to talk to people on the phone to deal with the demands and challenges that arose, it really allowed me to build strong relationships including with the owners of Simply, which I purchased back in 2019.

“I dealt with a whole range of people from those on the site to the buyers in the office and the suppliers that were doing the work on our behalf – I got to know all aspects of the business, and the different levels of people involved, whilst also learning the importance of trust.

“I am incredibly grateful for the foundation I was able to build at Advanté and it provided me with the stepping stones to go on to work at Simply and eventually become the Managing Director.
